Trail events in New Brunswick on Saturday, June 7th

June 5th, 2008

June is Recreation and Parks month in the province and Trails Day will be celebrated with events at Atholville’s Sugarloaf Provincial Park, in the capital city of Fredericton, and at Coronation Park in Bathurst.

Recreation New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Trails Council have collaborated on the Sugarloaf event which gives participants the opportunity to try two new trail activities – Nordic walking and geocaching. These activities will also be featured at the Bathurst event, courtesy of the Chaleur Trail Alliance and NB Trails. For all the details, click here.

What better occasion than International Trails Day to officially dedicate the Fredericton Walking Bridge in honour of Bill Thorpe; a founder, developer and tireless supporter of the city’s vigorous trail network. Without the hard work of countless volunteers like Bill, the trails we enjoy would not exist. The ceremony will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm at the South end of the soon-to-be renamed Fredericton Walking Bridge.
